In May 2006, 340 Brooksbank Avenue was an empty warehouse with a few offices. After a major five-month renovation it has become the musical hub of the North Shore. The centre's facilities now include three recording rooms, two control rooms, 20 private teaching rooms, a video/multi-media room as well as a reception and chill-out area.
Not only did the 10,000sq ft space have to be totally re-fitted, the project required specialist construction techniques to meet rigorous acoustic design standards. Noise reduction enhancements included double walls with resilient channels, a sub floor lined with a rubber membrane and packed with sand, the installation of solid core doors with laminate glass and retractable seals, a control room with triple-paned glass and insulated ducts with soft connections between rooms.
Upward Construction's most complex commercial project was finished on schedule in September 2006.
