Sam Award Finalist

SAM Award Finalist

Upward Construction is pleased to announced that it has been chosen as a Finalist in the Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s 2009 National SAM Awards for the Home Renovation category. This is a great honour and a mark of distinction for our company.

The homeowner-designed project took approximately eight months to complete. It involved removing the existing seventies style bathroom, and making structural changes to create a warm spa bathroom with an oversized walk-in closet. Custom made glass doors separate the two rooms, and this creates a sound barrier, allows natural light in, and maintains a contemporary look. A five-foot high towel rack designed by the homeowners, is proudly displayed on the wall by the shower.

Without subjecting the dated main floor living room to any structural changes, we clad the walls with a special wood veneer, and faced the fireplace with a stainless steel surround and a stainless mesh screen. New cabinets above the television add additional storage for the entertainment system. The traditional bathroom door was replaced with a unique flush-with-the-wall door, designed to continue the “clean line” look of the home. These were just a few of many changes that were made. One behalf of all the people who worked on this project Michael and Tammy Upward would like to thank the homeowners for their superb design drawings, their choice of outstanding materials, and for being patient with the inevitable construction mess one learns to live with. Thank you!
