Before & After – Full Home Renovation in North Vancouver
Everyone loves a transformation, and this exterior and interior home renovation project took an older-looking house and made it a stunning residence for a busy family. The full home renovation went past just aesthetics adding functionality to the layout with more storage and opening up the home to its full potential. The house was built in the 1950s as a post-war bungalow home with little architectural detail. The layout and style didn’t suit the homeowner’s lifestyle as their family expanded, the kids got older and they needed more room to spread out and gain more privacy. The need for modern items like a mudroom became more pressing as the kids began participating in sports. Worst of all, the first floor wasn’t being used because the layout was not functioning for the family.
The vision
It was a long time goal to renovate the home, and the homeowners liked the space they were in and the neighbourhood. When they moved in 10 years prior, they had done some light renovations painting doors and changing hardware, but they knew that they would want to do a full renovation at some point in the future. Ten years later, the homeowners started researching potential construction companies they could trust and asked a friend who owned a local building supply company for a recommendation. Upward was top on the list. They reached out to Upward and met with the team. Impressed by the level of knowledge and understanding of the home type, the team seemed to have the engineering understanding and carpentry experience they were looking for in a construction partner.
The homeowner engaged Upward Construction to help update the home and work with our team to capture their home vision. Working with a designer and our project manager, we answered their questions to transform the space into a usable, contemporary home with a modern kitchen and living area. Our Upward Process helped them focus on the dream while helping them define, select and build their home while staying on time and on a budget for their project.
